Jens-Erik Aasbø, bass, graduated from the Oslo Opera Academy in 2011, and has been a member of the soloist ensemble at the Norwegian Opera and Ballet (DNO&B) since.

There, he has performed roles such as Sarastro (Mozart - Tryllefløyten/ Die Zauberflöte), Il Commendatore and Masetto (Mozart - Don Giovanni), Basilio (Rossini - Il barbiere di Siviglia), Chief of Police (Schostakovitch - Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk), Friar Tuck (Schwemmer - Robin Hood), Dottor Grenvil (Verdi - La Traviata), The Bonze (Puccini - Madama Butterfly), 1. Nazarene (Salome - R. Strauss),  Zuniga (Bizet - Carmen), Rocco (Beethoven - Fidelio), Raimondo Bidebent (Donizetti - Lucia di Lammermoor), Cesare Angelotti (Puccini - Tosca), Lieutenant Ratcliffe (Britten - Billy Budd), Polizeikommissar (R. Strauss - Der Rosenkavalier), Mester Laurentius (Bræin - Anne Pedersdotter), Bartolo (Mozart - Le nozze di Figaro), Sparafucile (Verdi - Rigoletto) and Hunding (Wagner - Die Walküre). His debut as Pogner (Wagner - Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg) was sadly cancelled due to Covid-19.

Jens-Erik is also a sought-after singer internationally. Recent engagements include König Marke (Wagner - Tristan und Isolde, children's version) in the Bayreuther Festspiele Kinderoper, Daland (Wagner - Der fliegende Holländer) at the Opera på Skäret and Spring Festival in Tokyo, Der Wassermann (Dvořák - Rusalka) at the Komische Oper Berlin and Fasolt (Wagner - Das Rheingold) and Il Commendatore at the Theatro Municipal de São Paulo.

As a concert singer, Jens-Erik has performed the bass solo part in Mozart's Requiem countless times, but other works are also on his repertoire, such as Dvořáks Stabat Mater, the Requiems of Verdi and M. Haydn, and the part of Jesus in the St. John Passions of both Bach and Arvo Pärt.

Jens-Erik made his Bayreuther Festspiele debut in the summer of 2022, with the roles of Fasolt (Das Rheingold), Reinmar von Zweter (Tannhäuser) and 4. Edler (Lohengrin). He returned in the summer of 2023, reprising the roles of Fasolt and Reinmar von Zweter, but also partaking in a new production of Parsifal, where he performed the role of 2. Gralsritter. He will be back in the 2024 Festspiele, singing the same roles.
